‘Cool Center’ back open in Palm Desert

A ‘cool center’ has opened once again in Palm Desert to provide relief for those trying to escape summer-like temperatures.

The Joslyn Center, located at 73-750 Catalina Way, provides safe, air-conditioned facilities for free during hot summer days, officials with Southern California Edison said.

On extremely hot days, SCE works with Cool Centers to offer customers a place to get away from the heat.

While cooling off, visitors can learn about SCE’s income-qualified and energy-efficiency programs, energy conservation, and additional community programs that are available.

Officials said Cool Centers are for everyone, but especially for those at risk of getting a heat-related illness.

At risk people include:

Senior citizens
People with a medical condition
The disabled
Infants and young children

You can call the Joslyn Center at 760-340-3220 or send an email to info@joslyncenter.org.
