Motorcyclist ID’d after deadly crash in Indio

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the man who was killed on Friday after failing to yield for a traffic stop in Indio.

At about 4 p.m., Efrain Saravia, 31, crashed his motorcycle behind the 24-Hour Fitness near Jackson Street, leading to his death.

The incident began on I-10 at the Golf Center Parkway exit where Saravia was told to pull over. According to Riverside County sheriff’s spokesman Armando Munoz, instead of pulling over, Saravia took off down Avenue 43 at a high rate of speed.

Soon after, Saravia crashed his motorcycle behind the fitness center. Deputies believe he hit a curb.

When authorities arrived on scene,a sheriff’s deputy performed CPR while waiting for an ambulance. Saravia was taken to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
