SunLine to Unveil Buses Wrapped in Students’ Art

SunLine Transit Agency today will unveil two new hydrogen fuel cell buses wrapped in the work of the winners of its student art contest.

The unveiling is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Desert Regional Medical Center, which co-funded the artwork wraps. Taylor Schlicht of Palm Valley School and Veida Kirby of Nellie N. Coffman Middle School are the joint winners of the inaugural contest, which elementary and middle school students could enter.

“This inaugural SunLine Transit Agency Student Art Contest aims to connect SunLine’s environment focused approach to transit with our most precious resource, the youth of our valley,” said SunLine General Manager Lauren Skiver.

The new buses “presented an ideal opportunity to showcase the valley’s environmentally friendly transit approach, and also make it possible for the wider community to be involved with promoting the use of sustainable transit,” according to a SunLine statement.

The new buses will bring SunLine’s fuel cell vehicle total to four.
