Firefighters knock down Indio house fire

Firefighters knocked down flames at a home in north Indio Sunday night. The fire sparked in the garage of the home at the 37200 block of Stratford Street in the Talavera housing development, according to Cal Fire.

We got several calls into our newsroom just before 5:30 p.m. from neighbors and people who saw a lot smoke in the area between Dune Palms and Jefferson, near Ave 38.

Cal Fire said the garage was fully engulfed in flames and before crews arrived, everyone inside the home was able to get out safely.

The cause is under investigation.
