Search warrants served in effort to find Erin Corwin

Inside businesses across the Hi-Desert, including the Carousel Cafe, you’ll see no signs that 20-year-old Erin Corwin is missing, but she is and investigators and neighbors believe she’s out there.

“I think about it every day,” said Renee Metcalf, of Twentynine Palms. “I hear the helicopter all of the time at night. I think, ‘They haven’t found her yet.'”

Corwin’s disappearance remains a mystery. Investigators worked in Twentynine Palms on Wednesday, instead of searching in Joshua Tree National Park and surrounding desert where they’ve used most of their manpower since she vanished.

According to the CBS News 8 in San Diego, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department served four search warrants for two apartments at 6650 Jasmine St. at the Twentynine Palms marine base, where Erin lives with her husband, Marine Cpl. Jon Corwin. The department also sought permission to search a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee with Alaska license #7CJX519 and Corwin’s car, which was abandoned outside the Marine base.

Michael Beasley told CBS News 8 he was on his way to work when he saw a woman he said looked like Erin get out of that car get into another red car and drive away.

We reached out to Corwin’s husband.

“Cpl. Corwin is currently on ‘Permissive Temporary Additional Duty.’ PTAD orders are issued to military personnel for official time off,” wrote Public Affairs Officer Capt. Justin E. Smith in a statement.

Smith said Cpl. Corwin’s spending time with family and friends as the sheriff’s department continues to investigate his wife’s disappearance.

Carousel Cafe owner Steve Fleischman, like many others, hopes the search doesn’t lose steam until Erin’s found.

“People need to be aware of what’s going on in the community and what’s going on as to finding somebody who’s been lost, who needs to definitely be found, and praying hopefully she’ll be found and found alive,” said Fleischman.
