Armed robbery suspects remain wanted following fast food hold up

A pair of masked men robbed the Sonic fast-food restaurant Monday in Cathedral City as employees were preparing to open for the day.

The robbery was reported at 7:10 a.m. at the restaurant at 30777 Date Palm Drive.

Two men burst in and ordered the employees to the ground in Spanish, demanding money, Cathedral City police Sgt. Scott Sharpe said.

“No weapon was seen, but it was believed by both victims that the suspects were armed,” he said.

The employees gave them an undisclosed amount of money, and the suspects ran off. No one was hurt, Sharpe said.

Both suspects were Hispanic and had their faces covered.

One was described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 220 pounds; the other was 5 feet 1 inch tall and 220 pounds.

Both were wearing black shirts and blue shorts.

Anyone with information about their identities or whereabouts was asked to call police at (760) 770-0303 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.

Tipsters may be eligible for a reward.
