One dead, two hurt in Riverside freeway shooting

One person is dead and two others were injured during a car-to-car shooting on the 60 Freeway, a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy said Sunday.

It happened at 11:10 p.m. Saturday on the westbound 60 Freeway west of Main Street, said Riverside County sheriff’s Dep. Armando Munoz.

He described the incident as an assault with a deadly weapon.

“Deputies located a vehicle with three victims with injuries as a result of the ADW,” Munoz said.

“(A suspect in) a dark-colored vehicle shot at the victims’ vehicle on the 60 Freeway west of Rubidoux Boulevard,” he said. The vehicle fled the scene.

The victims were taken to hospitals where their conditions were not available, Munoz said.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert shutting down the westbound and eastbound sides of the 60 Freeway at Rubidoux Boulevard and the eastbound transition road from the Riverside Freeway to the westbound 60.
