High speed pursuit ends in crash in Cathedral City

Update at 11:25 p.m. Monday night:

A silver car crashed directly into the back of Dominoes Pizza, next to China 8 and El Ranchito Taco Shop in Cathedral City at the end of a high speed pursuit that started Monday night in Palm Desert. The pursuit ended with the crash at about 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Ramon Road.

The restaurants were forced to close for the rest of the night because the crash broke gas lines behind the building. Three businesses were without natural gas service.

The Gas Company is expected to be out in the morning to make repairs.

The pursuit reached speeds of 90 m.p.h. through Thousand Palms and then Westbound on Ramon Road into Cathedral City.

There’s no word from the C.H.P. why they were pursuing the driver. Witnesses say it appeared someone was arrested at the end of the chase. No injuries have been reported.
