20 mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus across the valley

Officials from the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District say they collected twenty mosquito samples that tested positive for the West Nile virus. The sample included the first positive test from the west valley. That sample was collected east of Desert Hot Springs.

The other nineteen in the east valley are in areas bordered by Pierce Street, Avenue 66, Hayes Street and the Salton Sea. Those results bring this year’s West Nile positive total in the Coachella Valley to forty-two mosquito samples and six sentinel chickens..
