Couple arrested with 6 kids, over 60 animals living in home
A Lucerne Valley couple has been arrested after deputies with the Victor Valley Station discovered six children and over 60 animals living in the residence under deplorable conditions.
According to a release from the Victor Valley Station, 38-year-old Ronald Mills and 39-year-old Venus Mills were taken into custody Wednesday evening.
Deputies were called to the 9000 block of Chickasaw Trail in Lucerne Valley on a followup investigation at about 4:30 p.m. They said the living conditions were unsuited for children and the animals.
The Department of Children and Family Services has taken custody of the six children. The animals, ranging from dogs, rabbits and birds, were all placed in custody of animal control.
Ronald and Venus Mills were arrested for child cruelty and cruelty to animals. They were both booked into the Victorville Jail and were being held on $100,000 bail each.
