‘Rock Out to Knock Out Hunger’ to raise money for FIND Food Bank

The city, local hoteliers and Goldenvoice, the organizer of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, will hold a concert and dance party in Palm Springs later this month to raise money for a local food bank, a city spokeswoman said Tuesday.

“Rock Out to Knock Out Hunger,” scheduled for Sept. 26 at the Hacienda Cantina and Beach Club, will feature Santa Monica-based rock cover band Famous for Nothing and a DJ booked by concert promoter Goldenvoice.

A $10 donation will be taken at the door, with all proceeds benefiting FIND Food Bank in Indio, according to Palm Springs city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell.

In effort to allow people from all over the desert and beyond to attend the event and spend the night in Palm Springs, the city has partnered with P.S. Resorts to feature limited special hotel rates at three different locations:

The Hard Rock Palm Springs, $99 special rate, group code is FIND
The Hilton Palm Springs, $99 special rate, group code is ROK
The Curve, $95 special rate, group code is RCKOUT

September is national Hunger Action Month, and people can drop off canned food through the end of the month at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, and at the Palm Springs Public Library, 300 S. Sunrise Way.

Councilman Paul Lewin, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians tribal Councilman Reid Milanovich, his sister Tristan Milanovich and local architectural designer Chris Pardo are leading a committee to inform younger people about “the growing problem of food insecurity in our valley,” Blaisdell said.

‘Rock Out to Knock Out Hunger’ is sponsored by the city of Palm Springs, P.S. Resorts and Goldenvoice.
