STORM WATCH: The latest road closures and notices as of 11 a.m.

A number of Coachella Valley roads remained clogged with mud and debris Tuesday morning following Monday’s heavy downpour of rain which caused widespread flooding.

Officer Mike Radford from the California Highway Patrol reminded motorists to be careful on the roads, and obey closure signs.

Radford said, “The signs are there because it’s dangerous to drive through them and could involve law enforcement, emergency medical personnel or tow truck services which are already busy.”

“We don’t want people to get stuck,” Radford added. “Officers will be actively searching for violators and issuing citations.”

HERE ARE THE LATEST ROAD CLOSURES AND OPENINGS AS OF 11:00 A.M. TUESDAY.

Cathedral City

– Varner Road is CLOSED between Date Palm Drive and Mountain View Road.

Palm Springs

– Indian Canyon Drive, Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino are all OPEN through the White Water Wash south of Interstate 10.

– Arabe Drive is CLOSED at it’s wash crossing.

Desert Hot Springs

-Mountain View and Dillon Road are CLOSED.

Thousand Palms

– Interstate 10 interchange at Bob Hope Drive is OPEN, but there is NO access there to Varner Road. Motorists can take the Bob Hope Drive exit to the Ramon Road freeway bridge, then to Varner Road and Thousand Palms. Drivers can also exit I-10 at Monterey to reach Thousand Palms.

-Ramon Road and Sierra Del Sol are CLOSED

La Quinta

– The intersection of Eisenhower Drive and Avenue 50 is CLOSED.

– Eisenhower Drive is CLOSED from Calle Tampico to the entrance to La Quinta Resort near Avenida Fernando.

– Avenue 50 is CLOSED between Washington Drive and Park Avenue.

East of Coachella

– Box Canyon Road is CLOSED off Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit.

-Highway 177 is CLOSED from Desert Center to State Route 62.

Expect other flood-related road closures as crews clean up mud and debris around Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes and Indio.

Motorists are encouraged to give themselves additional time to travel around the Coachella Valley Tuesday as other road closures may pop up for clean up.
