Cathedral City Boys & Girls Club could get extreme makeover with your help
At the corner of Whispering Palms Trail and Ramon Road, you’ll find the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City. It’s served the community for more than 30 years.
“We have 1,000 youth that we serve every year, with well over 100 every day,” said Executive Director Scott Robinson.
With that many kids and teens, the club’s seen it’s fair share of wear and tear and duct tape over the years. The Cathedral City club is independent from others in the desert and it’s clear it needs a makeover. It needs new air conditioning, flooring, bathroom doors and paint in and out.
“We clean here and try to help our club, but we can’t clean the carpets and fix the floors, we’re just kids,” said fifth-grader Jared Abrego.
“We can’t just continue to try to repair. We need to replace,” said Robinson.
Two years ago the club turned an abandoned building into its Teen Center with grant money from the Glen & Opal Barnett Foundation. With much success in the Teen Center, the main clubhouse has a chance at a $100,000 matching grant from the same donor, but, it needs your help to get there.
The club’s kicked off a “Join the Crusade” Campaign and will host three community event fundraisers before the year ends.

“We do what we can with what little we can, with that funding we can do so much more,” said Alyssa Milward, director of the Teen Center.
“Our kids give back, our families give back, but it’s time for this campaign to give it that extreme makeover for a clean safe place for these kids to learn and grow,” said Robinson.
