Missing woman’s body found in Joshua Tree National Park

The body of a missing elderly woman has been found inside Joshua Tree National Park, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Nola Taylor, 84, hadn’t been seen since since she left the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree on Monday, September 8. She was driving to a quilting class at the Yucca Valley Community Center but she never made it.

Her son reported her missing, and on Friday, September 12, deputies found her 1989 Lincoln Continental in Twentynine Palms on Desert Quail Drive and Baseline Road. Authorities said her car was disabled.

Crews immediately began searching the area around her car. On Sunday, September 21, members of Joshua Tree National Park Search and Rescue located Taylor’s remains in the desert, about 1.5 miles south of Desert Quail Drive and Baseline Road.

Deputies said an examination will be conducted this week to determine the cause of death.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will continue to follow the investigation and we’ll deliver more details as soon as they become available.
