Wind Advisory in effect through early Sunday

A trough of low pressure will move onshore early Saturday to bring strong and gusty winds to the mountains and deserts through Sunday. Gusts could top 55 mph in wind prone areas.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the mountain and desert areas in Riverside country through 4 am Sunday.

…STRONG AND GUSTY WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND
DESERTS OF RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO COUNTIES THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY
MORNING…

.A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE MOVING INLAND OVER CENTRAL CALIFORNIA
WILL BRING STRONG ONSHORE FLOW TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA…RESULTING
IN STRONG AND GUSTY WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND
DESERTS OF RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO COUNTIES THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY.
WINDS WILL PEAK DURING THE EVENING THROUGH EARLY MORNING HOURS.

* WINDS…WEST TO SOUTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 55 MPH.

* TIMING…THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

* LOCATIONS…ALONG MOUNTAIN RIDGES…DESERT SLOPES…THROUGH AND
BELOW CANYONS AND PASSES…AND INTO ADJACENT DESERT AREAS. IN THE
COACHELLA VALLEY…THROUGH AND BELOW THE SAN GORGONIO PASS AND
NORTH OF INTERSTATE 10. INTERSTATE 8 IN THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY
MOUNTAINS AND DESERT WILL BE IMPACTED AS WELL.

* VISIBILITY…MAY BE REDUCED IN THE DESERT DUE TO BLOWING DUST.

* IMPACTS…THE WINDS MAY MAKE FOR DIFFICULT DRIVING
CONDITIONS…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. WATCH OUT FOR
BROKEN TREE LIMBS. BLOWING DUST IN THE DESERT COULD MAKE IT
DIFFICULT TO TRAVEL.

* OUTLOOK…WINDS WILL DIMINISH BY LATE SUNDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 35 MPH OR GUSTS OF 45 MPH OR
GREATER ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING
DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA
CAUTION.
