Locals get up to $300 for adopting a pet

Rancho Mirage residents who adopt a pet from the Coachella Valley Animal Campus or any certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization can receive up to $300 from the city to help defray adoption fees and pet care expenses.

The money will come as a reimbursement as part of a newly approved amendment to the Animal Adoption Incentive Program.

The AAIP currently provides Rancho Mirage residents with a reimbursement for spay or neuter and microchipping. Dogs are eligible for a maximum of $85, cats $60, and microchipping $25.

More information is available by calling Rancho Mirage City Hall at 760-324-4511 or by visiting the city’s website at www.ranchomirageca.gov/adopt-a-pet/

A complimentary City of Rancho Mirage dog leash is available for pickup on completion of an application.
