Teen arrested in threat at Sacramento school

Authorities say a 14-year-old girl who wanted a day off from school has been arrested for allegedly making a shooting threat at her Sacramento campus.

The girl was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the threat found last week scrawled on a stall of a restroom at Bella Vista High School.

The graffiti warned that shootings would occur on campus Monday. Principal Peggy Haskins tells the newspaper that only about half of the school’s 2,000 students were in attendance that day because of the threat.

The student, who is not being identified because of her age, faces a felony charge of making criminal threats. She was taken to juvenile hall.

The girl told investigators she never intended to harm anyone and just didn’t want to go to school that day.
