Wind Advisories and Winter Weather Advisories issued for the desert and mountain areas
The first cold storm system of the season will bring strong and gusty winds to the mountains and deserts around Southern California. Rain and snow will be possible as well.
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 PM Saturday for the Coachella Valley as well as mountain areas in Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. Sustained winds of 25-35 mph are possible with gusts up to 60 mph in wind prone areas.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 2 PM Saturday for mountain areas above 6500 feet in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Up to 6 inches of snow is possible on western facing mountain slopes and the highest peaks. Gusty winds could create white out conditions, making travel difficult in the mountains.
