‘Zombies’ get engaged in Palm Springs
Hundreds of the ‘undead’ joined in the Halloween spirit and took to the streets of downtown Palm Springs Thursday night for the annual ‘Zombie Walk’.
The Zombie Walk groaned its way through the weekly street fair Villagefest. Some people had their zombie makeup done by members of the College of the Desert Theater Department.
While there are plenty of unusual sights to take in, a zombie proposal might be the first for the event. A man donning zombie makeup proposed to his girlfriend who was also dressed the part.
Evan Benedict announced to a crowd before making the proposal, “I’ve had a girlfriend for four years. We’ve been through the worst times, and the best times, and I’m hoping right now will be one of those best times.”
Benedict dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Emma Perkins, and she said yes. The self-described odd couple said they enjoy the show the Walking Dead and have enjoyed the Zombie Walk since they first began dating.
News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 spoke to the newly engaged, happily ‘undead’ couple shortly after the proposal.
When asked how Perkins was feeling, she replied, “I don’t know, this is amazing, this is not what I expected whatsoever from him, he’s horrible at surprises.”
It brings a whole new meaning to the term, ‘Til’ death do us part’.
The annual Zombie Walk is part of the Villagefest Halloween Spooktacular.
