La Quinta man facing assault with a deadly weapon charge

A La Quinta man is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges after allegedly threatening another man with a knife.

Police responded to the 78100 block of Calle Tampico in La Quinta at about 9:18 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a man chasing another man on the street and into a business.

La Quinta police officers made contact with the suspect, 35-year-old Albert Armando Ruiz.

They say Ruiz was uncooperative and hostile with people inside the business.

Ruiz resisted arrest and was taken into custody .

No injuries reported.

Ruiz was taken to the Smith Correctional Facility in Indio to be booked.

Ruiz was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a peace officer.
