Roads in Palm Springs expected to be closed through Friday

6:00pm Update: Cathedral Canyon at the wash is now open. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says that Dune Palms between Highway 111 and Blackhawk Way in La Quinta is closed at the wash due to flooding.

A trifecta of ROAD CLOSURES will make it hard to get in or out of Palm Springs at least through Friday, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

CLOSED are the mainthoroughfaresof Gene Autry Trail, Vista Chino, and Indian Canyon Drive through the White Water wash.

Motorists can use Ramon Road, Highway 111 or Dinah Shore Drive as alternate routes to travel in and out of Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Police say the closures are due to water and debris flowing over the roadways.

Our news crew at Gene Autry Trail also observed numerous vehicles passing closure barricades, then turning around, because of the water on the road.

Araby Drive is also closed at the Araby wash crossing.
