Man killed on Gateway Drive in Palm Springs identified

The man who was shot on Gateway Drive in Palm Springs last week died from his injuries, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the man Monday afternoon as 29-year-old Evan DeLeon of Desert Hot Springs. DeLeon died at about 1:30 p.m. Friday at Desert Regional Medical Center after he was shot in the 600 block of Gateway Drive around 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

Police received several reports of shots fired in the area that night. They found DeLeon wounded near a vehicle, said Palm Springs Police Sergeant Harvey Reed.

There is no suspect information and the Palm Springs Police Department continues to investigate.
