Garage fire ignites at home near Desert Hot Springs
Cal Fire responded to a house fire near Desert Hot Springs Wednesday morning after a pile of trash apparently ignited in the garage.
Firefighters were called to the 15000 block of Avenida Florencita, near Camino Campanero, at about 10:45 a.m. They said the blaze occurred in a 1,500 square-foot single family home.
The fire was contained shortly after 11 a.m.
Most of the damage was contained to the garage. Firefighters said the home was unoccupied at the time but they did rescue a cat.
There were no injuries reported. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
