Public takes part in creating gingerbread village at Indian Wells resort

Members of the public can make gingerbread houses or a holiday “village” that will be displayed at an Indian Wells resort, a spokeswoman said today.

Local residents and businesses can buy a “lot” in Miramonte Resort & Spa’s annual Gingerbread Village, which will be unveiled Friday at 6 p.m.

Houses will be accepted until 5 p.m. Thursday.

All sales will benefit the Humane Society of the Desert, Miramonte spokeswoman Chris Clemens said.

A 1-foot-square lot is $20 and a 1-by-1 1/2-foot lot is $30.

Gingerbread houses must be 51 percent edible to be eligible for prizes, Clemens said.

The grand prize is a free one-night stay and dinner for two at the resort’s Grove Artisan Kitchen.

The gingerbread village will be on display through Jan. 4.
