Man dies in Rancho Mirage crash

A 33-year-old man was killed in a possibly DUI- involved head-on collision in Rancho Mirage, authorities said Saturday.

Richard Trevor Foss of Rancho Mirage was the driver of a northbound Toyota Avalon that crossed the center median of Da Vall drive, where it was T- boned by a southbound pickup truck, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jorge Ramirez said.

Foss died at the scene, Ramirez said. A male passenger in his vehicle, Jose Cruz, age 36 of Indio, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

The collision occurred around 10 p.m. on Da Vall Drive, just south of Gerald Ford Drive, Ramirez said.

Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the collision, the sergeant said.
