Two armed robberies near Downtown Palm Springs Saturday

Two people were allegedly robbed at gunpoint in Palm Springs early Saturday, according to Palm Springs Police Lieutenant Frank Browning.

Browning says a man called 911 around 1:30 a.m. Saturday saying two men came up to him as he exited his car on the 2000 block of N. Indian Canyon Dr. He says the men demanded his belongings, and when the victim saw a handgun, he gave the two men his items. Both suspects, described as a black male adult and hispanic male adult, ran off.

While officers were investigating the aforementioned report, PSPD received another 911 call from a female victim in the 100 block of W. Tahquitz Canyon Dr. saying she had been robbed. This happened within minutes of the first reported robbery.

The female victim says a man, described as a black male adult, pointed a handgun at her as she sat in car, and demanded her property. Fearing for her life, according to police, the victim turned over undisclosed property. The suspect ran off.

Police say it is unknown at this time if these two incidents are related.

PSPD does not have any further information or leads on these two robberies at this time. PSPD is requesting anyone with information on the robbery to call 911 or the Coachella Valley CrimeStoppers at 760-341-STOP to provide an anonymous tip.
