DA Zellerbach’s wife arrested for suspected DUI

The wife of Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication after she crashed her car into a tree a couple of blocks from her house in Riverside Tuesday morning.

Dr. Paige Zellerbach was cited for the alleged misdemeanor and released from custody, according to Lt. Cook with the Riverside Police Department.

Cook confirmed to News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that Zellerbach crashed her car on Overlook Parkway near Orozco Drive in Riverside.

Cook said she was alone at the time of the crash. She allegedly drove her car up on the center median and into a tree. She wasn’t injured and she was given a field sobriety test at the scene.

Police took her into the station for further questioning before citing her for the suspected DUI, according to Cook.

Paige Zellerbach is a DDS and runs a dental practice in Riverside.

The incident is happening as Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach is getting ready to leave office, following a very public scandal involving cell phone video allegedly showing Zellerbach taking down prosecutor Mike Hestrin’s campaign sign. Hestrin then defeated Zellerbach in the June election. He will be sworn in on January 5th.

The Indio police department did recommend felony charges against Zellerbach, however, the State Attorney General’s Office today said the case is still under review and no charges are filed yet.

KESQ/CBS Local 2 contacted the DA’s office for a statement on Paige Zellerbach’s incident Tuesday, but no comment was made.
