High speed chase leads to crash in Palm Desert

A California Highway Patrol Officer engaged in a high speed chase southbound Washington Street in Palm Desert around 9:50 p.m. Monday night.

The suspect had failed to pull over on a traffic stop at Varner and Washington.

He led offers on a chase southbound on Washington Street then made a U-turn at Palm Royale.

He crossed over into on-coming traffic and hit two cars when heapproached the intersection of Washington St. northbound and Avenue of the States.

A driver and a toddler in another vehicle were rushed to a hospital with minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol took the suspect into custody and said he was driving without a license.
