11 applicants to interview for open council seat in Cathedral City

Eleven people are vying for an opportunity to fill Stan Henry’s vacated city council seat in Cathedral City. The seat has two years remaining and became open after Henry was elected mayor of Cathedral City in November’s General Election.

Officials said the city council prepared an open application and interview process for those interested in filling the seat. The only eligibility requirement was the individual must be registered to vote in Cathedral City.

The deadline to apply was December 16 at 12 p.m.

According to a release, the following people applied and will be interviewed Wednesday at 2 p.m:

John Aguilar
Denise Rodriguez Bowman
Sergio Espericueta
Kevin C. Koch
Paul Marchand
Gordon McGinnis Arianna Menon
Elsa Angelica Osuna Ronald Stewart
Stephen G. Vericker
Carol Zale

The applicants will meet in the Council Chambers and will each draw a number to determine the order in which they’ll be interviewed, according to the release. They will wait outside the chambers until it’s their turn to be interviewed. The interviews will be held in an open public meeting venue.

City Council will then vote whether to make an appointment with one of the candidates. If a candidate is chose, officials said they individual will be sworn in immediately.
