$25K settlement over pot cookie at Southland hair salon

A woman who claims she was served a pot-laced cookie at a Los Angeles hair salon has received a settlement of $25,000.

Seventy-two-year-old Jo Ann Nickerson said she had never tried marijuana in her life before she partook of the cookie at Blush Salon in October, 2013 and developed hallucinations, increased heartbeat and other problems. Her lawsuit said she tested positive for marijuana at a hospital.

The salon has denied any wrongdoing.

Nickerson’s attorney Barry Goldberg on Tuesday called the settlement a “fair resolution” of the matter.

He says the cookie incident is an aberration and the salon is run by “good people who do good work.”
