List of DHS medical marijuana applicants, proposed locations released

Nineteen applications from people wanting to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in Desert Hot Springs are being reviewed, as well as the proposed locations for the facilities.

According to City Attorney Steve Quintanilla, the 19 priority application worksheets were scored based on questions answered by the applicants, the information provided in each application and information available through court records found online and through the Secretary of State’s Office.

All applicants must submit to a fingerprint-based criminal background check conducted by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, including any management responsible for day-to-day operations.

Quintanilla said he wasn’t able to confirm information for certain questions, so everyone received points based on the answers they provided. The following applicants scored the highest of the 19 applications submitted, so their applications will be processed first:

William Conner/Dennis Markowski (Proposed location Paul Road)
Anthony Young/Mae Lee (Proposed location 17003 Palm Drive)
Andrew Milks (Proposed location 66595 Pierson Boulevard)

Quintanilla said there is no guarantee that the above applicants will get approved. Their Conditional Use Permit applications will now go to the Planning Commission to review their compatibility with surrounding land uses, aesthetics, traffic, landscaping, zoning, etc.
