Overnight fire damages Indio auto repair shop
Firefighters were expected to be on scene of a fire in Indio until 10 a.m. Friday morning mopping up.
They were called to to a large commercial auto repair shop at 3:30 a.m., along the 83200 block of Indio Boulevard near Requa Avenue.
J.J.’s Batteries was one of the businesses listed on the building’s sign.
It took firefighters an hour and 15 minutes to put out the fire.
One firefighter was injured, treated by medics and transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Indio Boulevard was closed to traffic during the fire, but was reopened a short time later Friday morning.
Authorities say an investigation was underway into the fire’s cause.
They provided no word on a cause or damage estimate.
