5 arrested after search for drugs also reveals $20K in stolen property
Five people were arrested on multiple charges after officers from the Palm Desert station served a narcotics-related search warrant at a home in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday, January 15.
Officers said the home is located near the 66000 block of 3rd Street.
Authorities did find methamphetamine and heroin in the home, but they also found stolen items estimated to cost $20,000.
The stolen items recovered from the home include:
Firearms
Ammunition
An anti-tank military rocket launcher ‘AT4’
Jewelry
Electronics
Sterling silver
DJ equipment
Collectables
The five people arrested all live in Desert Hot Springs:
Jack Johnson, 41, was arrested for possession of heroin and an outstanding felony warrant.
Gregory Kalayjian, 51, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Jody Laster, 38, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and for violating probation.
Richard William Nelson, 31, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition and child endangerment.
Sherrie Nelson, 29, was arrested for child endangerment.
All of the suspects were booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
Richard Wilson and Jody Leigh Laster were scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
