Woman arrested for allegedly hiking while high in Palm Springs

One person was arrested for allegedly hiking while high in Palm Springs Saturday, police say.

At 4:09 p.m., officers and member of the Palm Springs Police Department Mounted Search and Rescue escorted two hikers off the Skyline Trail, which is located behind 101 Museum Drive.

One of the hikers, 20 year-old Cathedral City resident Alexis Stender, was evaluated at the scene and was arrested for being under the influence of drugs in a public place.

Police say she was taken to a local hospital based on her intoxication, and was released on a promise to appear in court. The other hiker was released at the scene and was not arrested.

Police did not release details about the drug from which the woman was intoxicated, or how they were notified of the two hikers.
