Palm Springs resident accused of stabbing, carjacking man
A 61-year-old Palm Springs man was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly stabbing another man in the stomach before driving off in his vehicle.
Officers with the Palm Springs Police Department said the assault happened just after 11 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of N. Indian Canyon Drive.
According to the release, officers found the victim laying on the ground in the parking lot with a puncture wound to his stomach. He told police that a man named Sam Stewart walked up to him and struck him in the stomach with an unknown object.
Stewart then drove off in the victim’s vehicle, according to the allegations.
Police began searching the nearby area and located Stewart in the 400 block of Simms Road. Officers took Stewart into custody on charges of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies.
The victim had his vehicle returned to him.
