Indio mayor considers congressional run against Ruiz

Indio Mayor Lupe Ramos Watson (R) is considering a congressional run against Congressman Raul Ruiz (D) because she doesn’t feel her district is being well-represented.

GOP consultant Tommy Knepper confirmed to News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that Watson was recently in Washington D.C. meeting with the National Republican Congressional Committee. Knepper said the GOP is working with her on a potential run and the meetings went well.

Watson said, “Over the past several months I have been contacted by a variety of community leaders who have asked me to run for Congress. Having served ten years on the Indio City Council and three terms as mayor, I know the needs and concerns of working families in this district are not being well-represented by Raul Ruiz.”

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will keep you updated on any future campaign developments.
