First medical marijuana dispensary in DHS opens for business
‘Sun Grow’, the first licensed medical marijuana dispensary in Desert Hot Springs, opened for business at 12 p.m. Thursday.
Mayor Adam Sanchez was among the city leaders at a public ribbon-cutting ceremony that took place in front of the new shop at the corner of Palm Drive and Dillon Road.
KESQ & CBS Local 2 got an inside look at the new dispensary in February.
Sun Grow is one of three city-approved dispensaries that are set to open in Desert Hot Springs. City officials hope the expected tax revenue will help bolster the city’s struggling budget.
“We are probably talking about at least $300,000 a year in revenue to begin with,” said Sanchez.
“Since this place has had a soft opening for a week, that have had so many compliments about the standard of care, respect, and it’s state of the art,” said Sanchez.
Nineteen applications from people wanting to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in Desert Hot Springs have been reviewed, as well as the proposed locations for the facilities.
No announcements have been made regarding additional stores opening in the near future.
