Firefighters rescue 4 puppies from house fire

The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a house fire in Victorville over the weekend where five puppies were trapped inside a burning home.

According to Jeff Allen with the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the fire ignited at a home in the 16000 block of Allen Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters were met at the street by the resident of the home who told them, “My babies are inside,” according to the release. Firefighters clarified that the “babies” trapped inside were actually five puppies.

Firefighters attacked the interior fire and searched the home for potential victims. They were able to safely rescue four of the five puppies from the house. Unfortunately one didn’t survive, Allen said.

There were no other victims in the fire and the fire department had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Allen said there were no smoke detectors in the house and firefighters want to stress the importance of having a working smoke detector in every home.
