Nadal, Federer, Serena all advance to next round
Serena Williams looked rusty in her first tennis action in 14 years at Indian Wells on Friday. Her second match of the tournament was a complete role reversal. The 19-time Grand Slam champ rolled through the third round of the women’s draw, looking much more comfortable with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Zarina Diyas.
Serena was one of a few big tennis stars winning with ease on Sunday. 2-seed Roger Federer played the quickest match of the day in the men’s draw, beating Diego Schwartzman, 6-4, 6-2. The 17-time Grand Slam champ will face the man who eliminated him from the 2015 Australian Open, Italy’s Andreas Seppi.
Rafael Nadal also won with a 6-4, 6-2 final over Igor Sijsling in second round play. Nadal will face American Donald Young on Tuesday in a rematch of a 2008 Indian Wells match the two had, their first and only meeting on the court.
