“Race to be Ready” in Rancho Mirage
The City of Rancho Mirage Emergency Preparedness Commission is hosting its second “Race to be Ready.”
The city calls the event a healthy, educational, family-oriented, community activity to ensure every resident, HOA, visitor, school, country club and business is fully prepared for future area emergencies.
Educational speakers, hands-on training and demonstrations of emergency communications, management and preparedness resources will be showcased by state and national organizations.
At the R2BR Expo and Forum, attendees will have the opportunity to learn not only the why and how, but the ease of emergency preparedness, including educational speakers, hands-on training, demonstrations of emergency communications, management and preparedness.
Participants can experience an 8.0 earthquake in a Quake Trailer and practice a real-life fire drill in a Smoke Trailer. There will be demonstrations in Sidewalk CPR, 1st-Aid and Fire Extinguisher storage and usage. The Red Cross, a CERT trailer and 2 Emergency Operations Centers will provide additional life savings tips. Government and State agencies will showcase their state-of-the-art equipment, while emergency preparedness speakers teach you how to be prepared. Vendors will display and sell things needed to be prepared.
