Shelter From the Storm celebrates 3rd annual New Beginnings Gala

The third annual ‘New Beginnings’ gala to benefit Shelter From the Storm was held Saturday night at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The fundraiser celebrates a fresh start for survivors of domestic violence, and raises much-needed money for the shelter.

Shelter From the Storm emergency shelter, counseling, and legal and social service advocacy for more than 2,000 women and children every year.

Also in attendance was former congresswoman Mary Bono, a long-time supporter of the organization. Bono received the New Beginnings award, and also used her acceptance speech to announce her engagement to former astronaut Stephen Oswald.
