Police arrest suspect for discharging weapon during downtown fight

Police arrested a suspect who allegedly fired a gun during a fight in Downtown Palm Springs early Saturday morning.

According to Palm Springs Police, around 1:57 a.m. Saturday, officers arrived at The Palm House on 450 South Palm Canyon Drive, after they heard gunshots in the area.

Police say there was a physical altercation in the parking lot and when they arrived on scene, people were scattering, and cars were driving off. Police say nobody was struck by the gunfire, but two men were hurt during the altercation but did not require medical attention.

On Sunday, Police say they contacted one of the suspects, 22-year old Calvin Walton, while looking into an unrelated investigation. Walton was arrested for unlawful discharge of a firearm, and for participation in a gang.
