7 people injured in Thermal crash

Cal Fire says 7 people were injured Tuesday afternoon when two cars collided at Harrison Street and Polk Street in Thermal.

According to Cal Fire, they got the call just after 2:45 p.m. Once on scene, they discovered 7 injured people, several of the patients had to be cut from the wreckage and rescued. 2 of the most critical patients were airlifted to area hospitals, the other 5 were transported by ground ambulances with moderate injuries.

The intersection was shut down for several hours while crews cleared the wreckage. CHP officers on scene said that the believe the driver of a red sedan was headed south on Polk Street and did not stop at the stop sign, striking the mini-van. The investigation continues.
