Riverside County wildfire destroys home, damages 4 others

Firefighters have contained a Riverside County fire that destroyed a home and damaged four others.

The 8-acre blaze erupted shortly before noon in a field in Jurupa Valley and was pushed by winds gusting at times to 30 mph.

About 25 homes were evacuated before the fire was surrounded about 4 hours later.

A firefighter and a resident were treated for minor injuries.

Veronica Orozco said that 10 of her relatives lived in the destroyed home, and they lost all their belongings.

Four other homes had damage to yards or outbuildings.

Firefighters also fought a 3-acre blaze in the Los Angeles suburb of Whittier, but no homes were threatened and the fire was contained without injuries.

It’s not known what sparked either fire.
