Man found shot, dead in car in Indio

Police are looking for a suspect after finding one man shot, dead in a car in Indio early Sunday morning.

After receiving calls about gunshots around 2:20 a.m. on 43-000 Kenya Street, Indio police officers found a man, shot at least one time, sitting in a car.

The man died at the scene. He is described as a 35-year-old hispanic man.

The Indio Police Department released a statement saying the official cause of death is pending a postmortem examination by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office. This means the victim may not have died from the gunshot; this has yet to be determined.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending official identification/notification. The investigation is considered a homicide and is on-going. IPD Detectives are investigating all available leads and currently have no information as to why the shooting occurred or suspect(s) information at this time.
