Mysterious, giant ‘flip flops’ appear mountainside in Indian Wells

A KESQ & CBS Local 2 viewer pointed out an interesting sculpture that she recently noticed in the mountain landscape of the Indian Wells Country Club.

She said from far away, she thought it was a blue house, but when looking closer, it appears to be artwork in the form of a giant pair of flip flops.

Diane Morgan shared the photos on our Facebook page Wednesday evening.

She said she snapped the photos on Quail Run which becomes Cottonwood Cove.

The mysterious artwork is greenish-blue and is adorned with multicolored polka dots. There’s no word on who placed the sculpture on the mountainside, how long it’s been there or how it was transferred up the mountain.

We’re looking into the strange sight and we’ll post more details if they become available.

In December of 2013, mysterious lights showed up mountainside in Palm Springs, which had many people scratching their heads. The different colored lights turned out to be LED bulbs that were spread out near hiking trails. The lights reappeared in 2014.

The lights remained a mystery because nobody found out who was responsible for their placement.

Plenty of onlookers took notice to the lights around the holidays in downtown Palm Springs.
