One person killed after car collided with a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 10

One person was killed this afternoon when a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer truck collided on Interstate 10 in unincorporated Desert Center, about midway between Coachella and Blythe.

The crash was reported at 3:09 p.m. on Interstate 10 at mile marker 109, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman April Newman said.

One victim who was not immediately identified was pronounced dead at the scene, and another person was taken to a local hospital with injuries said to be minor, Newman said.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the cause of the crash.
