Two shot in Coachella, suspect sought

Two people are expected to recover after being shot in Coachella, police said Sunday morning.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept. Sergeant Alan Northrup says at 12:17 a.m. Sunday, there was a shooting at the 48000 block of Grapefruit Blvd.

Before officers arrived, two people were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. The two are expected to recover.

The suspect in this shooting is described as a Hispanic man, about 25-30 years old, about 5’06” tall, medium build, with short black hair. He fled the location in a white, late model sedan, possibly a Lincoln, and was last seen traveling west on Avenue 48.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Investigator Ernie Lopez at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760-863-8990.
