Desert Hot Springs shooting suspect pleads not guilty
A 26-year-old man pleaded not guilty Friday to charges stemming from a shooting that left a woman in critical condition.
James Daniel Fidler III of Desert Hot Springs was charged earlier in the day with attempted murder, domestic abuse and four counts of willful child cruelty.
He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday to seek a reduction of his $3 million bail.
The shooting occurred about 2 a.m. Wednesday, at a home in the 16100 block of Via Quedo in an unincorporated area just south of Desert Hot Springs, sheriff’s spokesman Armando Munoz said. Fidler turned himself in at the sheriff’s Palm Desert station around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday.
The unidentified victim was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital.
Fidler is being held at the Riverside County jail in Indio.
