Indio model home destroyed by overnight fire

Firefighters were called to the 51600 block of Rolling Green Court early Thursday morning near the corner of Avenue 52 and Jackson Street.

They say smoke and flames were shooting from the 2500 square foot model home’s roof at 1:10 a.m.

It’s located in a new gated community, Trilogy at Polo Clubs.

A Riverside County Fire Battalion Chief, Bonifacio De La Cruz said, “We immediately had exposure issues to two other model homes on either side.”

Winds were gusting, but 23 firefighters prevented the flames from spreading.

Bonifacio said, “With the wind activity we are very fortunate we were able to contain it to the building of origin. We contained the fire one hour after arrival.”

The housing development is by Shae Homes, and located across from the Coachella Valley Cemetary.

The development’s website says it’s an all-ages resort which also offers 55 and over neighborhoods.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters had no damage estimate.
